Awana is a worldwide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for ages 2 to 18. As the global leader in child and youth discipleship, Awana gives children the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, no matter their background.
Awana Meets during the school year - September to May - each year on Sunday nights.
Safety First!
Your child's safety matters to us. Hillside has a church security team that helps make sure our kids are safe while families worship, learn, and serve. Our goal is to create an environment where parents can participate in worship with peace of mind and children can learn in a setting that is caring and protected.
Each one of our volunteers has been background checked by our Protect My Ministry procedures.
Meet Our Awana Commander

Brenda taught classes at a Home School Coop that meets at our church for 15 years. She's been involved in our Awana program almost since its inception at our church. She has now been our Awana Commander for the last four years.
Trek and Journey
Kids from 7th to 12th grades experience Awana in two different ways. First, they meet at the church at 4pm to have a game time together. Then they break into two smaller groups.
Journey is made up of high school students 9th-12th grades. Their lessons are geared to engage them on topics related to their age while studying specific books of the Bible.
Trek is made up of 7th and 8th graders. They go through subjects like "His Love" and "His People".
Both Trek and Journey finish at 5:30 and are encouraged to be Junior leaders in the younger kids program that starts at 5:30.
Awana for Younger Kids
Kids from two years of age to 6th grade meet in different age groups starting at 5:30pm on Sunday nights.
Puggles - These are our youngest kids. All kids who are potty trained up to age three are welcome to join in a lesson designed just for them.
Cubbies - These are our three and four year olds. They play games and learn Christian values.
Sparks - This group consists of kids from grades K-2nd. They play games, memorize verses, and work through a book to learn more about Jesus.
T&T (Truth And Training) - Grades 3rd-6th. Again there's a game time, lesson time, and group time that allows kids to answer questions concerning the Bible and their faith.
